Weigh in day #5

Yup, today I weighed myself. No damage done. I'm even. Still showing 172. I thought I might lose a fraction of a pound but I'm just glad I didn't gain. I wasn't as gung ho about my exercise this week as I would have liked. My eating was pretty much fine until last night. I went to a pre-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving potluck dinner party with friends. I was hoping there would be some good clean food that I could eat but there wasn't. I have no idea how many calories I ate but I did refuse the desert as I thought I did enough damage with a little bite of all the different stuff. There was a pot roast, some store bought deli salads, a homemade potato salad, some roasted squash covered in sugary goodness, a corn concoction with peppers, something with bread and mushrooms like a casserole I guess (I couldn't quite figure it out), a meat and cheese platter. Then there was pumpkin pie and carmel apples for desert. I brought a couple bottles of wine, and had 2 small glasses of red and sip of champagne.

For this week, I recognize that I have done something to my shins. Not sure if it's actual shin splints or not but they hurt. I don't know what actually did it, if it was the crazy jump rope stuff I've been up to or running on the treadmill. So, I've decided that I'm just going to have to ice them and take it easy on the cardio so I don't do even more damage and end up with stress fractures or something. I'll try the elliptical and see how it goes. If that seems okay, I'll do that and swimming for cardio this week. If not, maybe I can handle the rowing machine. Who knows. I'll try both. I really just don't want to end up out of commission and I don't want to end up slowing down too much so I feel a loss of momentum. Careful balance I guess.

I also think that I didn't do enough self care stuff last week. So this week, I'll be focusing on checking in about my list every day. I want to make sure I get my thank yous in every day and practice my guitar and drink more water. I think those are going to be my biggest focus items but I'll be working on all of them as usual anyway.

Hope you all had a great weekend and are looking forward to an even better week.
