Damn Water

Of all the goals I set for myself, I managed to pull them all off with exception to drinking the 60oz of water. I drank close to 35oz but didn't get all the way there. In the past, when I've tried to drink more water, I found it difficult too. At first, it seems to take a long time to suck down that much water during the day but then after a while, it becomes second nature. Right now, it's feeling like a HUGE ordeal because I'm starting it up again. And, AND...who has that much time to spend running back and forth to the bathroom all freakin' day. I might as well just sit on the toilet all day while pouring bottle after bottle of water down my throat. Oh well, I know I'll get use to it again.

For me, just thinking about the number is overwhelming. 60 ounces. Geez! But, when I break it down it's not so scary anymore. I have a camel water jug that holds 24oz. I just need to commit myself to drinking one of those throughout my day at work, one more while working out, then 12oz more during dinner. The two bottles throughout the day is still challenging but the 12oz doesn't feel like big deal. It's basically just a full glass of water. AND the great thing about drinking that much water during the day is that you don't want to snack as much because you keep your stomach feeling full. If grazing is a problem for you, DRINK MORE WATER. It helps. I promise.

Lets see...what are the rest of my goals.... Ah, here they are.

1. Blog every day
2. Track my diet and exercise
3. Eat 3 squares and 1 snack every day
4. Drink 60 ounces of water every day
5. Burn 400 calories by exercise every day
6. Get my full 8.5 hours of sleep every night

Blog every day...check.

Track my diet and exercise...I did very well today. With my 1400 calories eaten today and the exercise I did, I ended the day with a total deficit of 881 calories. And, that included a glass of wine with dinner. Yay!

Eat 3 squares and a snack. Check. Actually, I ate 2 snacks. Breakfast was an organic plain yogurt smoothie with blueberries and strawberries and a little oatmeal. I know it sounds weird but it really is good. Try it. Snack #1 was homemade hummus and baby carrots. Lunch was a romaine salad with other raw veggies and a couple shrimp and a homemade balsamic vinaigrette. Snack #2 was an orange and 6oz fat free organic milk after the gym. Dinner was 5oz salmon, roasted asparagus, zucchini, and yellow squash. AND a glass of Lambrusco.

Burn 400 calories by exercise. I did well here too. 45 mins on elliptical machine at 144 heart rate, 15 mins on rowing machine at 135hr, and 15 mins on floor working abs at 125 hr. Altogether, I burned 511 calories. Woop Woop!

Sleep....ah lovely sleep. Last night, I went to bed early enough to get this sleep. Unfortunately, my sleep was very broken. I can't even tell you how many times I woke up, looked around, and flopped back down on my pillow. I'll make it up tonight. :)

I'm drinking a minimum of 100 oz per day. Of course, I'm aiming for rapid weight loss. I have to drink roughly half my weight in ounces every day. As you up your water intake, you may want to consider supplementing with potassium. This was especially important for me since I have high blood pressure and an on a potassium-depleting diuretic.

I spring for a liter of mineral water a day, and drink it with a little lime. I think it really helps!
